ADAC GT Masters Nürburgring:
From 14 to 16 August 2020, Car Collection Motorsport and the EFP Car Collection by TECE team will travel to the home circuit at the Nürburgring. In addition to the Audi R8 LMS GT3 #11 with Elia Erhart and Audi Sport driver Pierre Kaffer, the team also uses a second Audi R8 LMS GT3. Number 12 is driven by the two ADAC GT Masters returnees Mike David Ortmann and Audi Sport driver Markus Winkelhock.
Peter Schmidt: “Unfortunately, the second car broke away shortly before the start of the season. So we are all the more pleased to be able to make a guest start with Mike David and Markus. The two have already started together in the past two years and have already shared our Audi R8 LMS GT3 on the Nordschleife this year. These are good prerequisites whereby you could already see the extreme power density at the Lausitzring this year and it won’t be easy. Elia and Pierre are also in top shape and highly motivated, so we are extremely looking forward to our home race.”
The start of the season at the Lausitzring was very promising for the EFP Car Collection by TECE team. Elia Erhart and Audi Sport driver Pierre Kaffer were able to compete for the points in both races on their own. Due to a touch in the last curve, at which Erhart was rudely pushed off the ideal line and thus had to give up two positions, the duo could not achieve points in Sundays race. Nonetheless, he currently leads the trophy classification by 19 points ahead of Filip Salaquarda and Rolf Ineichen.
Elia Erhart: “Our season start at the Lausitzring was extremely promising. We were able to position ourselves twice in the strong field of participants in the midfield and immediately took the first points with us. Now we have to confirm this achievement at the Nürburgring. I’m really looking forward to Mike David and Markus joining our team here.”
At the Nürburgring, the 3.629 km long sprint variant including the narrow variant of the Veedol chicane is used, which is also used in Formula 1 or the DTM. The two 1-hour races on Saturday and Sunday will be broadcast live again from 1:00 p.m. on Sport 1. The two qualifying sessions will be broadcast live in the livestream at www.adac-gt-masters.de.
Mike David Ortmann: “I’m super happy to have Markus to make a guest start in the ADAC GT Masters at the Nürburgring. The last runs of the NLS went very well and I was able to collect many kilometers. We are all highly motivated and we are in a good position. The field is very narrow, but I think we can deliver a good result here and then I hope that it won’t be the last guest start this year.”
Markus Winkelhock: “I am very happy that the guest start at the Nürburgring can be heldl. It’s a good place for Mike and me, because we were on the podium two years ago. However, it is not easy when you have seen that 30 cars are within one second. But we are well equipped and we both know our work tool, the Audi R8 LMS GT3, very well. But, the Nürburgring suits me very well and I’m really looking forward to the weekend with the EFP Car Collection by TECE team.”
