Car Collection Motorsport fields a strong line-up for the NLS 6h race

Car Collection Motorsport is returning to the Nürburgring Nordschleife for the KW 6h ADAC Ruhr Cup race. Porsche contracted driver Nico Menzel joins the “Goroyan RT by Car Collection” line-up. The team will also field a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.

As the longest race of the season, the KW 6h ADAC Ruhr Cup race is one of the annual highlights of the ADAC RAVENOL Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie. Car Collection Motorsport will field a Porsche 911 GT3 R in the six-hour race on 1 August, which will compete in the SP9 Pro-Am class under the entry name “Goroyan RT by Car Collection”.

The car will be driven by the two regular drivers, Artur Goroyan and Alex Fontana, who also competed with the Walluf-based team in this year’s 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, finishing fifth in the SP9 Pro-Am class. They will be supported in the seventh round of the NLS season by Porsche contracted driver and Nordschleife expert Nico Menzel.

The 28-year-old Menzel has already lined up for the team on several occasions in recent years. The Porsche expert has previously competed in the Asian Le Mans Series with the Rheingau-based team and has also raced in the International GT Open. In 2023, Menzel finished second in the Pro-Am class at the 24 Hours of Spa in one of the team’s Porsches; Alex Fontana was already one of his team-mates at the time.

“I’m delighted to be racing with Car Collection Motorsport once again. I always feel very much at home in the team and am looking forward to my first race with Artur. Alex and I have already enjoyed success together in the past in different cars in the GT Open, and we also finished second together at the 24 Hours of Spa in 2023. I’m looking forward to this line-up and think we can achieve something together,” said Nico Menzel ahead of his race with the team at NLS7.

Car Collection Motorsport’s entry is rounded off by the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport – familiar from the Porsche Sports Cup Germany – competing in the SP10 class for GT4 cars. Montego Maassen, son of former Porsche works driver Sascha Maassen, and experienced GT3 driver Joel Monegro from the Dominican Republic will be at the wheel. Whilst Maassen – known from the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Germany – is using the race to secure his permit on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Joel Monegro will be clocking up further kilometres on the legendary circuit. To this end, the special, power-reduced version of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport will be on the grid.

Team manager Romina Schmidt adds: “We’ve known Nico for many years and have competed together in numerous races. We also have another Porsche specialist on board in Alex, and Artur has likewise already delivered strong performances on the Nordschleife. We’re confident that we’ll have a formidable trio of drivers and aim to fight together for a top result. We’re also delighted that Montego and Joel will be joining our team, and we’ll be fielding our Cayman as a permit car for the pair of them. Supporting a permit entry is a first for us, but we’re looking forward to continually expanding our repertoire.”

The KW 6h ADAC Ruhr Cup race starts on 1 August at 12:00. A 90-minute qualifying session will take place beforehand at 08:30. The entire race day of the ADAC RAVENOL Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie can be watched in full via the series’ official livestream. On Friday, the teams and drivers will have the opportunity to get to grips with the Nürburgring Nordschleife and fine-tune their cars to perfection.
