Car Collection Motorsport made a strong comeback to the Nordschleife last weekend. In races 7 and 8 of the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS), the Porsche 911 GT3 R with start number 44 secured two podium places in the Pro-Am classification and impressed on Sunday with pole position in the overall field. It was the team’s first appearance on the legendary Nordschleife this year. Swiss driver Alex Fontana and Armenian driver Artur Goroyan shared the driving duties in the Porsche 911 GT3 R. The duo had already underlined their competitiveness in qualifying for NLS 7, finishing third overall and setting the fastest time in Pro-Am. In the race, the team finished fifth overall and took second place in the class to secure a podium finish. The highlight came on Sunday: Fontana put the 911 GT3 R on pole position in qualifying – and thus at the top of the entire field. In the race, a podium finish and top result were within reach for a long time. However, a penalty cost them crucial seconds. In the end, they finished sixth overall and third in the Pro-Am classification. The second-fastest lap of the race underlines the strong pace. For Fontana, the race provided valuable experience on the Nordschleife, while Goroyan completed only his third GT3 race and his first ever in the top class at the Nürburgring. Both drivers mastered the changeable conditions in the Eifel with confidence and showed that Car Collection Motorsport is a force to be reckoned with in future races. Team manager Romina Schmidt was satisfied with the weekend overall: ‘We proved on Sunday that we have the potential to compete at the front. With pole position and speed in the race, Alex and Artur made a strong statement. Of course, the penalty cost us important time, but we take away many positive impressions from this weekend.’ The Hessian team led by team boss Peter Schmidt wants to significantly increase its involvement on the Nordschleife in the future. For the 2026 season, entries are planned with both the Porsche 911 GT3 R and the Cup Porsche. Interested drivers can contact the team now at info@carcollection.de. |
