No less than 72 GT3 bolides will contest this year’s CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa. The German team Car Collection Motorsport will bring two of them to the start. In cooperation with GMG Racing, Car Collection is fielding a Porsche 911 GT3 R. In addition, the Car Collection-operated Porsche 911 GT3 R from Centri Porsche Ticino, which contests the entire GTWC Endurance season, will also be on the grid. In parallel, the team from Walluf will compete in the GTC Race weekend at the Nürburgring, where it will field three cars.
With two Porsche 911 GT3 R, the Car Collection Motorsport team will compete in the world’s largest GT3 race in Spa. The number 24 car from Centri Porsche Ticino will be driven by the three regular drivers Ivan Jacoma, Niki Leutwiler and Alex Fontana. They will be supported in Spa by Porsche Driver Nico Menzel, who is competing for the first time in the Car Collection team, but will be contesting the Spa 24h for the fourth time. The regular trio will travel to Spa as championship leaders in the Pro-Am classification of the Endurance Cup after their victory at Paul Ricard. Due to the increased points allocation at the 24h race, the declared goal is to further extend the championship lead with a victory.
A second Porsche 911 GT3 R from Car Collection is entered in cooperation with GMG Racing from the USA. Here, Kyle Washington, James Sofronas, Jeroen Bleekemolen and Patrick Long sit behind the wheel of the number 132 car, which also competes in the Pro-Am classification.
In addition to the extensive entry at the 24-hour race in Spa, Car Collection will also be active once again at another race track on the same weekend. At the GTC Race Event at the Nürburgring, the team around Team Principal Peter Schmidt will field three cars. Spearhead is the Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II with the two GTC Race support drivers Julian Hanses and Finn Zulauf. Hanses currently leads the overall standings and is looking to extend his championship lead at the Nürburgring. In addition, Car Collection will bring a second Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II with the two experienced drivers Johannes Siegler and Klaus Koch to the grid. Third in the line-up is junior driver Marc Bartels, who will be attacking in a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS in the junior classification of the GT4 class.
Both events can be followed on the Youtube channels of the respective organizers. Sky Sport also offers a free live stream of the Spa 24 Hours.
