After the team around Peter Schmidt competed in the Hankook 12H Mugello and the first round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series last weekend and announced shortly before that they will cooperate with the newly founded Team Lionspeed GP in the 2021 season, the team from the Rheingau now announces their further plans.
The two youngsters Henri Jung and Tim Vogler will compete in the GTC Race this season in an Audi R8 LMS GT4. The 18-year-old Jung and the 23-year-old Vogler will thus also take part in the newly founded Junior classification of the GTC Race. At the end of the season, four drivers will join the support squad and receive a free test in a GT3 car. At this screening, one driver will receive a free cockpit in a GT3 car for the 2022 season.
Peter Schmidt: “The GTC Race organising team has created a great idea with the development programme. This is a unique concept and is unparalleled. With Henri and Tim, we have already found two young talents and we are firmly convinced that they have a good chance of being promoted. We will support these two with all our resources.”
However, Car Collection Motorsport is still planning to enter a second Audi R8 LMS GT4 and an Audi R8 LMS GT3. Negotiations are still underway with a number of drivers, but interested drivers can still contact info@carcollection.de. The GTC Race will be held over five race weekends as part of the ADAC Race Weekend in 2021, making it the main series of the event.
Henri Jung started karting in 2015. Until 2019, he competed in the Rotax Max Challenge Germany and took part in races for the Rotax Max Euro Trophy and the BNL Karting Series. In the past two years, he then already tested one or the other GT4 vehicle. Now in 2021, the young driver, who also lives in the Rheingau region, is making the switch to motor racing.
Henri Jung: “I’m looking forward to finally taking the step from kart to car and I think the GTC Race is the perfect place to start. As I’ve been in contact with Car Collection Motorsport for quite some time, I’m looking forward to the coming season with confidence and am excited to see what 2021 has in store for us.”
Tim Vogler, on the other hand, is a “career changer” in motorsport. His father Ingo has been competing in the 24H GT Series together with Car Collection Motorsport for several years. So it wasn’t difficult to relate to the team and Tim has already gained experience on the race track at many track days. At the same time, he has been training for some time on his simulator for the tracks that will be used in the 2021 season. A week ago, Tim successfully completed a licensing course and so his path into the cockpit of the Audi R8 LMS GT4 is now clear.
Tim Volger: “It was a successful first day in the Audi R8 LMS GT4 and I was able to successfully complete my licence course. The car was perfectly prepared and I also quickly felt comfortable in the cockpit after the first laps. I’m happy to have Car Collection Motorsport behind me as a team and I’m excited to see what the coming season brings.”
