EN: Car Collection finishes in the top 10 twice in Australia

Successful trip “Down Under”: Car Collection Motorsport achieved a top 10 result in both races at the guest start in the GT World Challenge Australia. The two drivers “Hash” and Alex Fontana finished 10th in the Pro-Am class in both the first and second races.

At the end of the long season, the Car Collection Motorsport team had another long journey on the agenda. The Hessian team made its debut “down under” at the legendary “Mount Panorama Circuit” in Bathurst as part of the GT World Challenge Australia. At the wheel were the two drivers “Hash” and Alex Fontana.

After the Car Collection team successfully completed its debut on the famous race track in Indianapolis a few weeks ago, the next very successful excursion followed. On the challenging track in Bathurst, where the iconic 12-hour IGTC race takes place every year, Car Collection competed in the Pro-Am class with a Porsche 911 GT3 R. For both the team and the two drivers, the aim was to learn as much as possible and prepare for a potentially future start in the big 12-hour race.

Both drivers were able to hold their own in the top-class field in the qualifying sessions. “Hash” finished 10th in class in his run, while Alex Fontana even took sixth place. In both races, they managed to get the Porsche through the full race distance without any damage and set fast times. In the end, the “Hash” / Fontana duo crossed the finish line in 10th place in the Pro-Am class both times.

However, the 2024 season is not yet over for Car Collection. With the Asian Le Mans Series, there are still more overseas races on the program this year.

Peter Schmidt, Team Principal: “Bathurst really is an outstandingly beautiful and challenging circuit. Racing here is a privilege. I think we did very well for the first time and, above all, learned a lot. Our team – from the mechanics to the engineers to the drivers – once again worked like clockwork and gave their all. Once again, a big thank you for that!”
