EN: Car Collection competes in the GT World Challenge Australia in Bathurst

Another premiere for the Car Collection Motorsport team on a legendary race track is coming up: after competing in the IGTC in Indianapolis, the Hessian team will now make a guest start in Bathurst as part of the GT World Challenge Australia. The two drivers “Hash” and Alex Fontana will once again be in the black Porsche.

While the 2024 motorsport season in Europe is drawing to a close, there is still no winter break in sight for Team Car Collection Motorsport. On the contrary: the team from Walluf will embark on its next overseas trip, this time making its racing debut on the Australian continent. As part of the FANATEC GT World Challenge Australia pwd by AWS, Car Collection Motorsport will be entering a Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The two drivers “Hash” and Alex Fontana will once again be at the wheel of the black Porsche with the #21. The two have already shared the cockpit throughout the GT Open Championship season and also competed together at the 8H of Indianapolis.

As for the team, it is also the first time for both drivers on the legendary Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst. For the American “Hash” in particular, who will complete his first full motorsport season in 2024, the aim is to learn a lot in preparation for a possible future start in the famous 12H race of the International GT Challenge. Experienced Swiss driver Alex Fontana is also taking the opportunity to get to know the track, which is new to him, and to prepare himself for future challenges. The duo will compete together in the PRO-AM class.

The two 60-minute sprint races will take place on Saturday, 9.11.24 at 12:45 local time (2:45 CET) and on 10.11.24 at 14:45 local time (4:45 CET) and will be broadcast live on the organizer’s website.

Peter Schmidt, Team Principal: “After the successful GT Open season and the guest start in Indianapolis, the next adventure awaits us. The Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst is one of the biggest challenges in GT3 and we are very much looking forward to proving ourselves here as well. Even though it’s a first for all of us, we obviously want to put in another good performance.”

Alex Fontana, driver: “Taking part in the finale of the GT World Challenge Australia in Bathurst still feels incredible, even though I’m already there. Our goal is to gain new experiences, learn and discover this amazing circuit. We have a clear intention to take part in the 12h race one day and want to prepare ourselves. This time we are here to learn and have fun, as it is the first real season for my teammate Hash and the first time for me in this iconic venue. A big thanks goes to the Car Collection family who have made everything possible this year: from Europe to the USA to Australia, with much more to come!”
