Directly after the Hankook 6H of Abu Dhabi, Team Car Collection is travelling on to nearby Dubai, where the next highlight of the still young 2024 motorsport season is on the agenda. Peter Schmidt’s team will enter a Porsche 911 GT3 R in the PRO-AM class in the 24H race in Dubai as part of the 24H Series.
The Dubai 24H has been a fixed part of Team Car Collection Motorsport’s racing calendar for many years. The Hessian team has regularly taken part in the endurance race in the United Arab Emirates since 2006 and was able to clinch overall victory in 2019. This is in addition to countless class victories and podium results.
Originally, Car Collection Motorsport planned to enter three cars in the endurance race in the desert this year. However, the plans of Peter Schmidt’s team were also affected by the postponement of the race by two weeks due to the political turbulence on the Suez Canal. Due to the overlap with the 24H of Daytona and other clashes of dates, the line-up had to be reduced and the entire operation reorganised at high logistical effort.
Car Collection will line up with a Porsche 911 GT3 R in this year’s edition of the Hankook 24H Dubai. At the wheel of starting number 96 are Dustin Blattner (USA), Fuad Sawaya (Lebanon), Sebastian Gorga (Italy) and the two Germans Mark Wallenwein and Dennis Marschall. While Marschall is a very experienced GT3 driver as a former Audi Sport driver and Blattner has already completed several endurance races in the GT3 Porsche at Car Collection, Gorga, Sawaya and Wallenwein are contesting their first GT3 race in Dubai. Together, the five drivers will compete in the PRO-AM class.
The race will start on Saturday, 27 February at 13:00 local time (16:00 German time). The finish is on Sunday at 13:00 local time. The race and the qualifying sessions will be broadcast as usual on the 24H Series organiser’s YouTube channel and website.
