After the announcement of the driver line-up for the Silver Cup in the past few days, the line-up of the Tresor by Car Collection cars in the PRO class of the GT World Challenge Europe has now been confirmed. Audi Sport drivers Christopher Haase (GER) and Mattia Drudi (ITA) will share the cockpits of the two Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO 2 cars with Italy’s Luca Ghiotto and Simon Gachet from France in the Sprint Cup. In the Endurance Cup, Haase, Drudi and Ghiotto will compete together.
The newly formed Team Tresor by Car Collection is going full throttle in the GT World Challenge Europe this year! In addition to the already presented car in the Silver Cup of the Endurance classification, the team also competes with a top-class driver line-up in the PRO Cup. With the two Audi Sport drivers Christopher Haase (GER) and Mattia Drudi (ITA), the experienced GT3 driver Simon Gachet as well as the successful Formula 2 transfer Luca Ghiotto, the team has put together a powerful line-up.
In the Sprint Cup, Audi Sport driver Christopher Haase and Simon Gachet share the #11 Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO 2, while the sister car with the #12 is piloted by Audi Sport driver Mattia Drudi and Luca Ghiotto. Both cars will start in the PRO classification. In addition, Tresor by Car Collection also competes in the PRO classification of the Endurance Cup. Here the #12 will be driven by the trio Drudi/Ghiotto/Haase.
Christopher Haase is one of the most successful GT3 drivers. He has been competing for Audi Sport in a wide variety of racing series for many years and has been able to celebrate countless successes. These include prestigious victories at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, the Spa 24 Hours or the championship title in the ADAC GT Masters.
Christopher Haase: “I am very much looking forward to the upcoming season and the cooperation with Team Tresor by Car Collection. I have been associated with the Car Collection team for a long time and we have already been able to contest many races together. We’re on the same wavelength there. I’m also really looking forward to working with my Audi Sport colleague Mattia Drudi as well as teammates Simon Gachet and Luca Ghiotto.”
The 23-year-old Italian Mattia Drudi is one of the great young talents in the Audi Sport squad. Despite his youth, he can already look back on many successes in the Ingolstadt-based company’s GT3 PROgram. Drudi has been competing regularly in the GT World Challenge since 2019.
Mattia Drudi: “I’m really excited to jump in this new Project. We’re working hard during the preseason period to be fully prepared for Imola and all the races afterwards. With such an experienced and fast team mates like Christopher and Luca for sure we can aim to fight for top results in both Endurance and Sprint series. Looking forward to kick off this season with the new Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo2 that for sure will help us to perform even more!”
After a career in formula racing, Frenchman Simon Gachet switched to sportscar racing in 2016. Since 2017, the 28-year-old has been competing in the GT World Challenge and has already celebrated numerous race wins there.
Simon Gachet: “First of all, a big thank you to Ferdinando Geri and Tresor by Car Collection for giving me the chance to race in the GT3 class under the best conditions. I’m really happy to return in the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo2 alongside Christopher Haase in the PRO category. It will be our third year together in the sprint series and we only have one goal.”
Luca Ghiotto also comes from formula racing. There he went through the various junior classes and was able to work his way up to Formula 2, where he raced successfully for four years. Now the 27-year-old Italian is entering GT racing. Luca Ghiotto: “I’m really happy and excited to start this new adventure with this new team, it’s going to be an intense season at the highest GT3 level. Couldn’t have asked for better team mates than Mattia and Haase, for sure i’ll learn a lot from them which are experts of the championship and of the Audi R8 as well. Can’t wait for the season to start. A special thanks for Ferdinando Geri and all the people in Tresor by Car Collection for the warm welcome received!”
